WIRED Offline friends know that I regard "The Wire" as the greatest show on television. Like "The Sopranos," which it displaces (although Tony & co. made an impressive comeback there at the end), it's not so much a TV show as a very long movie, and one more affecting than most actual feature films. But I'm not above seeing this brilliant series reduced to a joke: From the YouTube comments: Before I saw this video, I considered the wire to be the best drama on television (and best show in general). Ironically, I now find it to be the best comedy as well.Actually, again like "Sopranos," "Wire" is one of the funniest non-comedy programs I've ever seen. If I was a member of Amazon's affiliate marketing program, this is where I'd include a link to buy DVDs of the show. But since I am not, you'll have to go buy them and send me a few pennies on your own. Labels: The Sopranos, The Wire, YouTube Sunday, April 15, 2007
BABY EAGLE MASCOT IN THE COAL MINE You can't tell from here, but apparently interest was sufficient for me to go ahead and upload the video of Screech, the Nationals' baby eagle mascot, dancing atop the dugout. I really did hear from one individual who was curious to see it, but the real reason I bothered was just to experiment with the Brightcove player: But if you're a YouTube purist, fear not: I have uploaded it to Skynet-upon-the-Columbia, where you can view it at any time until Google becomes self-aware and launches missiles on our targets in Russia (aren't they our friends now?). P.S. This post brought to you almost entirely by Google software. Labels: Columbia River, Google, Screech, Skynet, Washington Nationals, YouTube |
